@ Mark - That's exactly why I like piles. Most things that you file you don't need or don't use. I like it all within reach! Thanks for the well wishes : )

@ Tiffany - Thanks so much for sharing your experience with GTD. I agree that we all need to develop our own systems. We are all individuals after all!

You know, to throw in my two cents on GTD, it's a great system in theory, but when you're a natural piler, the file-basedness of it all is just too much! I have adapted and amalgamated my own form of GTD because I really think the original one of it is best for consultant/CEO level people.

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better based on your last post comment section. This is my experience with piles. Paper is piled on the desk and then goes into a file in the desk or is placed in a 'logical' place (somewhere). If I need to retrieve the paper(s) within a relatively short period of time from the time I filed it then I have no problem finding it. However yesterday I tried to locate a manual for my computer monitor which I haven't referenced in well over a year and now I can't find it to save my life. I guess I need to do some more work on my filing system.

@ Linda - Thanks! I definitely have my own system...

@ Jamie - don't you think the GTD is a sham? I think if it works for you go for it, but I like my piles : )

@ Torbjornrive - I'm pretty paperless, this is the extent of my files that I use on a weekly basis... I do think you're right, it's very important.

@ Dan - that does help. I'll look it up - thanks!

@ Monicarol - Mine are often on the floor randomly too. I'm glad I'm not alone on that... : )

This picture illustrates the story of my life. At least you have really pretty baskets to put your files in! Mine are just in the floor randomly.

Ever thought of going paperless?

In my class last night someone did a presentation on companies that are going paperless (part of Green), and apparently it CAN work!

I assume that there will have to be the occasional printing of something though. Here at my office we're unfortunately very far from paperless...something I think we should put into action.
