What are you doing this weekend, my dears?
Ryan and I saw Wicked last night as one of our last Madison excursions. It was beyond good, particularly because the woman who played Elphaba had an amazing voice. Do you like Broadway shows? We have so much to do for the move and work and life that before the show I was willing to cancel our date and pack. Or sleep.
But Ryan insisted we go – even though the poor guy is just as stressed – and I’m glad we did. I was bouncing off the walls when we returned. Sometimes we forget how essential a bit of fun is for energy.
This weekend, we’re going to visit my mother while we’re still in the Midwest, and I’m excited for some poodle time… and some sleep. Next week, we’ll get back to packing and then the big move – whee!

Wicked is so good!!! If you want to procrastinate packing, it’s a good reason to do so. Belated congratulations to you both on the big move! I hope DC is ready for you! :)
Broadway shows have that affect on me too! Haven’t been able to get up to NYC lately, so am excited that I’ll be able to bop over to Ft. Lauderdale to see “Wicked” touring production this spring—can’t wait!
And seeing your post first thing this morning left me feeling so in synch with my weekend plans—am off to a concert tonight celebrating a talented friend’s release of a CD she recorded of all her favorite Broadway tunes that will benefit the local performing arts society!
Wicked good post. Tra-la.
@ Kelly – I thought so! : ) Thanks so much for the kind words – and if you’re ever in the area, please let us know. We need to keep in touch!
@ Paula – Yes, I am always dancing and singing after a show (Ryan too – ha!). The production we saw was a touring one as well – but just as good I think! Have fun tonight – that will be so much fun!
Did Wicked have a touring company visit to Madison?? Oh, I just came back from London and saw Wicked there — the ticket was much cheaper than in NYC, considering I was already in London. I loved most the plot (it’s always the plot). There was so much heart in this interpretation of the Oz. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to see Oz the old way again.
@ Gene – Yep! You’re right – terrific plot! Hope you had fun in London – my sister lives there and I love it :)
Jason and I were all set to see Wicked a few months ago when it was in Charlotte, and then life happened and we missed it. Maybe next time! I’m glad you enjoyed it, and good luck with the move!
You wrote: “particularly because the woman who played Elphaba had an amazing voice” – it would have been perfect if you had taken just an extra few tiny minutes to mention the singer’s name. You would have been grateful for the same recognition, hmm?
When you’re in DC, travel up to New York to see some shows! I highly recommend A Little Night Music right now, starring Bernadette Peters. Love!
