Listen to free podcast about my organization and Gen Y issues!

I was on a local radio show on Tuesday, Madison 1670 The Pulse, On Air with In Business Magazine, talking about my organization and a lot of Generation Y and Generation X issues.

A big thank you to Joan Gillman of the University of Wisconsin School of Business, and Jody Glynn Patrick, Publisher of In Business Magazine for inviting me to be on the show!

You can listen to the free podcast here. (A direct link to the free download, where you can listen in your browser or download the audio. A full list of available podcasts from the program is available here.)

Check it out… you can tell when I stop being nervous when I stop talking so fast.

Let me know what you think!

@ t h rive – Fair enough. In my defense, besides being nervous, I would just be about to say something great and they would give they signal to wrap it up. So then I would talk really fast to get the rest of my point in… ;) Well, when you know better you do better!

Great podcast! When you said that Gen Y folks will probably have 8-9 jobs before 30 I was thinking that it is as much of a statement about the current job market as it is Gen Y.

The Boomers had a loyalty to their companies because they knew that their companies would be loyal to them. These days you can’t expect to work for 40 years and get social security and a pension. Being a Gen Y I learned this right away with my first job. I worked loyally for 2.5 years before I got laid off because the company decided to eliminate my department.

We need to stay current and agile in order to survive, and that requires us to jump from job to job. It’s not because we’re not loyal.

Hi Andrew – Thanks so much! Thanks for sharing your story as well. I love the word agile. You make good observations regarding our loyalty, and you’re right that this trend is spreading throughout the workforce. Now, the interesting bit will be what happens if a recession hits!

Nice podcast! I agree with many of your statements since I manage a group of Project Mangers that includes people from each group (X, Y and boomers). The main part that hit home is trying to get the boomers to let some of the x and y into that upper levels of their organization.

I look forward to watch you and MAGNET grow over the next year!

@ James – Thank you! It was a lot of fun and I’m glad you enjoyed it.

@ Angela – Weren’t Joan and Jody great? Happy you liked it. Thank you for your comment!

@ Ryan – Definitely. The quicker we’re able to experience and learn, the better able we will be able to take over the reins. Thanks for your kind comments!
